Today I enjoyed an interesting reading on excellence.....in my quiet time.
John Wooden describes it so eloquently: "It takes time to create excellence. If it could be done quickly, more people would do it."
Here are some 🪙 golden nuggets out of today's read around Mediocrity and Excellence take it, use it or ignore it. I just thought it would be good insights to share.
"Mediocrity is an average thinking.
(meaning: of medium or low quality : ordinary. a mediocre performance, the quality of being average or ordinary. You can't be great at everything — in some areas, we all fall into mediocrity.)
Mediocrity keeps telling you those dreams and desires are not possible.
It gets you discouraged even before you start anything.
If you don't check out mediocrity, you will remain on the floor (average).
Mediocres give up easily.
Mediocres live a life of unbelief.
Mediocres criticize everything good.
Mediocres are covenant breakers.
Mediocres pull down instead of raising up.
Mediocres deceive and despise other people's achievements.
You cannot afford to be mediocre. It would be too costly for your #destiny.
You were born to reign. (You are born to be above average)
Get out from the #company of Mediocres. That is not where you belong.
#ChangeYourAttitude
Ralph Marston says "Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude."
From the standpoint of that which affects the way we work, there is probably nothing more important than one's attitude!
An excellent mind does not destroy but puts things right.
Our choice of attitude impacts every decision we make on a day-to-day, moment-by-moment basis.
Our attitude can either fire our hopes and the pursuit of the things that are important or it can extinguish our hopes and pursuits.
In my religion, Excellence is one word that should sum up the life of every #Christian out there.
We should desire to do our #VeryBest in everything we do!!!!" Whether it be punching numbers at desk, analysing data, serving customers or sweeping floors or building bridges.
When I look back at the 20years, I have tried to stay in my lane leaned heavily into the goal to become excellent or to pursue the very nature of Excellence.
I am not going to mislead you. It is not an easy journey, however it is a journey that can bring about awesome things into your life.
Brian harbour in Rising above the Crowd made a comparison between Success and Excellence:
"Success means being the best.
#Excellence means being your best.
Success to many, means being better than everyone else.
#Excellence means being better tomorrow than you were yesterday.
Success means exceeding the achievements of other people.
#Excellence means matching your practice with your potential."
Deepak Chopra sums it up:
"I often say 'pursue excellence, ignore success.' Success is a by-product of excellence."
By no means have I arrived, to be honest I have only touched the surface or the tip of the iceberg of what it means to be excellent.
In Michael Jordan's words:
"Excellence isn't a one-week or one-year ideal. It is constant."
My interpretation is that it is a live long journey, what I do know is that I am loving the journey, and I am not keen to disembark anytime soon.
The book further states "Excellence includes doing common, everyday things, but in very uncommon ways regardless of whether people are watching.
Aristotle concludes it for me perfectly
"Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives - choice, not chance, determines your destiny."
I•AM•Crisp® and I am on a journey to pursue excellence.
